About Mike and Jan Shepherd
For Mike and Jan Shepherd, photography involves far more than mastering technical aspects alone to capturing images. For the Shepherd's, photography is intrinsically related to the personal rapport between photographer and subject. For more than 20 years, Shepherd Studios has excelled in both areas, producing technically superior photographs and forging lasting relationships with clients. Subsequently, many couples who initially required wedding photography services continue on as clients, relying on Shepherd Studios to document precious life and family changes throughout the years.

As with most life-long passions, Mike's interest in photography began at an early age, accumulating to his enrollment in the Art Institute of Pittsburgh. Mike graduated from the Art Institute with a degree in photography with an emphasis in multimedia.

Since that time, Mike has continued to perfect his professional craft — ever mindful of the technical skills mastered at the Art Institute — and coupled with his natural ability to connect with people and put them at ease.

In fact, it was the way Mike interacted with people, not to mention, his wonderfully clever sense of humor that immediately drew Jan to him.

Now more than 10 years later, Mike and Jan are sharing in several successful partnerships: a wonderful marriage and a flourishing business. Under Mike's mentoring, Jan has become a highly skilled photographer in her own right. Both personally and professionally, the Shepherd's complement each other well and they both have a mutual respect for the other's talents and skills.

Mike and Jan both agree that the best part of their job is capturing the emotions — the love, the joy, the awe and the essence — of each and every wedding and then having the opportunity to experience the couple's reaction as they relive these priceless and personal moments.

Digital Services
No matter how "perfect" the photographic moment, sometimes imperfections take away or mar an otherwise perfect photograph. That's why at Shepherd Studios, we offer a full range of digital services to reclaim or enhance the integrity of your timeless image.

While Shepherd Studios provides some complimentary cosmetic retouching to your reprints enlargements, such as blemish and fly-away hair removal or red eye corrections, there are times where you may want more extensive cosmetic corrections. We are able to provide additional services to correct skin tone and teeth discoloration, braces removal and other defects, such as wrinkled clothing. Additionally, we can also make color and contrast adjustments, as well as background adjustments and other photo manipulations.

From a special effects standpoint, we can add distinctive color tints to your B&W photos to enable unique photo features to stand out.
